Machine work:
- Block is surfaced
- Bored over & honed

- O.E.M. Main, rod & thrust bearings
All blocks are Toyota original seasoned blocks stripped down to the bare block; oil galley plugs and expansion plugs are removed, cleaned and inspected.
Blocks are surfaced to obtain a completely flat erosion free mating surface.
Block surfaces are measured to crankshaft centerline and cut to same height.
All blocks are bored over to next piston size. This is done to achieve correct piston skirt clearance.
• All cylinder walls are finished with a cross thatch hone to hold oil on cylinder walls
• Pistons are hung on rods with new pins and clips
• Pin bushings are machined to the proper pin clearance
• Connecting rods are re-sized on the large end
• Crankshaft is turned to the next bearing size and micro-polished for finish
• The 3VZFE block uses ball bearings press fit into oil galleys as plugs. These are all removed during the rebuild process along with all expansion plugs for proper cleaning of the block.
• On completion of machine work and cleaning the block is painted and new brass expansion plugs and galley plugs are installed
• Crankshaft is installed into the block with new OEM bearings and thrust washers
• Oil clearances are measured and documented
• Piston ring end gaps are measured and filed to required specifications and documented
• New pistons and rings are installed into the block with new OEM rod bearings
• Rod bearing oil clearances are checked and recorded
• All bearing surfaces are coated in assembly lube and torqued to proper value
The finished 3VZ-FE is a Toyota original block completely cleaned and inspected, rebuilt with all new OEM components. This is considered a short block or lower rotating assembly that includes:
- block,
- crankshaft,
- rods,
- pistons,
- piston pins,
- piston rings,
- bearings,
- expansion plugs,
- oil galley plugs.
Complete assembled short block with 2 year/ 24,000 mile warranty included.
