What's The Difference?

 

What is the difference between a new engine for sale and a rebuilt engine?  Unless you are buying the engine from Toyota Co. then the engine is cast by a different company.  The engine block can look identical with almost no difference other than casting numbers. Toyota builds their engine to their specs and all their block and components have to go thru their quality control, if the block is cast by a different company then it is cast to someone else quality control.  If the quality of the steel used is low quality then it cant handle heat as well and is more likely to distort.  Other problems could be hardened surfaces that wont endure, such as camshaft lobe failure.  If the company selling the engine does not ask for a core returned the it is very likely the
